SASS Courses

SASS offers 3 classes to help you maximize your academic success:

  • LASk 1001: Mastering Skills for College Success - LASk 1001 is designed to help students learn that skills and strategies that facilitate college success. Students will spend time clarifying their educational goals, values, and sources of motivation, identify areas for academic growth, and formulate a plan for personal skill development.  Specific attention will be paid to helping students develop useful study habits, learning strategies, and skills that can be utilized throughout the lifespan.
  • LASk 1101: Academic Refresher -LASk 1101 is designed to offer students experiencing academic issues at mid-semester assistance in realizing their academic goals for the term.  Students benefiting from the course include those who may have received mid-semester alerts from other courses, or other students needing academic support and instruction during the second half of the semester. The course provides skilled assistance in identifying factors interfering with academic performance, establishing a plan to overcome academic and personal obstacles and setbacks, and developing skills & strategies for ongoing success. 
  • LASk 1102: Academic Success - LASk 1102 is designed principally for students on academic probation.  However, students returning to the University following a period of academic suspension, and those experiencing significant academic difficulty are eligible to enroll.  The course provides skilled assistance in identifying factors interfering with academic performance, establishing a plan to promote academic success, and developing skills and strategies for overcoming academic and personal obstacles and setbacks.  Didactic instruction and personalized consultation are utilized to facilitate achievement of course objectives.
